over 100 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes, and this number continues to grow every year. at ikea, we believe all of us have the right to feel at home — no matter who we are or where we come from. that’s why we’re teaming up with our partner, unhcr, the un refugee agency, this world refugee day.

to support all refugees, we are looking to address two problems this year: the empathy gap and the funding gap. the empathy gap is when our personal biases and perceptions impact the way we respond to refugees. the funding gap is the money needed by ngos and other humanitarian organisations to meet the growing needs of people forced to flee.

fundamentally, ikea believes that all people deserve respect, dignity and opportunities. we’re committed to living up to this belief: for years, we’ve worked with refugees across many aspects of our business — like skills for employment and ikea social entrepreneurship. now, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to join us in supporting refugees worldwide.
